Distinguished Alumni
Jay P. Leupp ’81

Jay Leupp, one of the 145 students of Chaminade’s 28th graduating class, was involved in numerous school activities. As an athlete, Jay played football, baseball, tennis and soccer. He also participated in Speech, Debate, and Key Clubs and was recognized for his academic achievements receiving honors in all four years of high school. Our distinguished alumnus was also selected for the national Honor Society as a junior and senior.

Jay holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Santa Clara University where he met his wife of 13 years, Heidi. He went on to receive his CPA credentials and an MBA from Harvard University. He worked for Trammel Crow Residential as development manager, then with The Staubach Company as vice president specializing in the leasing, acquisition and financing of commercial real estate. Today, Jay is a managing director and senior real estate equity analyst for Robertson Stephens & Company.  He is one of the few Wall Street analysts with real estate industry experience and that has afforded him the opportunity to guest lecture at Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley. Jay has also appeared and offered commentary on CNBC, CNN Financial, Dow Jones and Bloomberg News.

Jay is a leader in supporting many activities in his parish and the San Francisco Archdiocese. His contribution of personal time has benefited local children through his coaching efforts in soccer, baseball and softball. He has promoted the liturgy in his role as Mass lector at this home parish of Our Lady of Angles in Burlingame, California where he and Heidi have lived since 1998. Recently, Jay became a team leader to support the San Francisco Archdiocese’s Campaign for Catholic Education. His philanthropic focus has extended to Chaminade College Preparatory since 1991 when he and Heidi joined the President’s Circle with annual contributions to the Leupp Family Trust in support of Chaminade. Most recently, they joined together with Jay’s parents, Al and Joanne Leupp, and his brothers John ’83, Tim ’90, and Tom ’94 to make a significant family contribution to the current Chaminade Capital Campaign, “Fulfilling Today...The Promise of Tomorrow.”

We are especially proud of Jay, because his example optimizes the hopes for all Chaminade students: that as adults they lead a life of service to family, church and country. In an age when parents often have little time for their children, Jay is a strong and consistent role model to his children Robert, 11, Christina, 8, and Madeline, 4.

Today, we gratefully honor Jay, as a beacon of young leadership, strengthening the legacy of Catholic education and looking out for the spiritual and material needs of others in his community. With a lifetime of Catholic education that began at St. John Eudes and culminated with graduation from Santa Clara University, Jay is well qualified to serve the spiritual and educational needs of his family, friends, and community.
