The Chaminade family spirit exists because of the time, effort, and service our volunteers demonstrate daily. There are many volunteer opportunities to fit a wide variety of skills and schedules. Volunteering is not only a meaningful way to support Chaminade and meet new friends, it is a way to show your student that you are committed to his or her education.

  • Tor and Deborah Sweeney

Parents of Benjamin ’22 and Christopher ’24
Tor and Deborah Sweeney have been the Boys Varsity soccer team parents and major supporters for Chris and Ben who played all four years in the soccer program.  Chris (2024) will be attending Santa Clara University in the Fall and Ben (2022) will be entering his 3rd year at Georgetown. Tor and Deborah have been the most positive parents from the time they entered the Chaminade Middle School.

The list of contributions is endless as they helped by donating money for the purchase of uniforms as well as brought drinks for the halftime for nearly every home or away game for the last three years.  They have been instrumental in the rise of the boys soccer team planning team lunches and pasta nights for team gatherings.  They even brought an ice cream truck to the Quarter final home playoff game offering free ice cream to everyone who cheered on the boys (and it worked as the team advanced to the semifinals). Tor and Deborah, thank you for your support of the soccer program and for the positive example that you set in the stands by never missing a game.

Claudine Toon is undeniably a force to be reckoned with—larger than life, she brings an unmatched energy to everything she does at Chaminade.

For two years, Claudine served as the Track and Field Team Mom, supporting the coach in managing over 120 track athletes. Additionally, she dedicated three years to being a part of the Cross-Country Team Mom triad. Claudine’s impact doesn’t stop at sports—she’s an Advancement superstar. As the Class of 2024 Lead Parent Champion for Eaglethon, her relentless dedication in reaching out to every parent in the class of 2024 for donations has consistently secured first place amongst all grades at Chaminade for the past two years.

As this year’s lead for the Chama Mamas, Claudine has taken on responsibilities ranging from securing speakers for parent panels to crafting signature cocktails for special events like our Wreath Making Event. Over the years, she could often be spotted front and center at various athletics games, taking pictures to share with the athletes, their families, Nade social media, and yearbook. Claudine’s sense of service knows no bounds- she volunteers as often as she can wherever there is a need. Claudine is leaving some big shoes to fill. She will be greatly missed.
