James B. Watters '69
Jim Watters is the Honorary Co-Chairman of The Campaign for Chaminade, the School’s ambitious $6 million fund-raising effort to add a new student-centered structure on each campus. He enthusiastically volunteered at the campaign’s onset and has influenced philanthropists and corporations to assist in the effort. Together with his Co-Chair Tom Condon ’56, Jim has inspired the involvement of alumni to give back to Chaminade. To date, the campaign has raised $5.9 million.
Professionally, Jim is President and General Manager, Universal Studios Operations Group, where he is responsible for the oversight of all studio operations including production and post-production facilities, departments and more than 2.4 million square feet of office and production support space within Universal’s 415 acres.
He began his career with Universal in 1976 in the Post Production Theatrical Department and over the past 26 years has held numerous executive posts.
He is currently a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a lifetime member of the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation which is devoted to the welfare of widows and dependents of officers. He is also a member of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Volunteer Services.
Serving as a board member of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, he guides proceeds that benefit more than 60 charitable organizations and research centers. Additionally, his board service for the Heartbeat of Hollywood Foundation helps provide medical equipment for patient needs at the Motion Picture Country Home.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees for Providence St. Joseph Medical Center where, in addition to his work on the Executive, Nominating and Capital Committees, he is chairman of the Finance Development Committee and Honorary Chairman of the 2002 Annual Festival of Trees event.
Jim and his lovely wife Lisa currently reside in Chatsworth.
