Chaminade alumni include exceptional individuals who are leaders in business and the community, and incorporate Marianist values in their everyday lives. Through extraordinary commitment to their families, communities, schools, and churches, nominees consistently improve and uplift the quality of life for those around them. They embody dedication to others.
At Homecoming 1979, Ken Purcell '57 was honored as the first recipient of the award. Ken was the first full term Chaminade alumni president and prime organizer of the association. The award was given for the second time in 1980 to Charles "Chuck" Behm '57. It was 19 years later that the award ceremony was made an annual event, honoring Henry Burdick '60. From 1999 through 2015, the recipients received the award during Catholic Schools Week at the annual Distinguished Alumni Breakfast.
