Beth loved attending Chaminade with her brother and sisters, Frank ’84, Lisa ’87 and Kathy ’89 and all their wonderful friends. They are ever grateful to their parents for their Chaminade education. The Macias family is thrilled to continue their Chaminade experience with their eight legacy eagles!
At Chaminade, Beth was active in clubs and sports. She was the girl athlete of the year in 1981 and the recipient of the Joseph Rauser Spirit Award. She participated in Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, CAM, and was Student Body Vice President her senior year. She played on Chaminade’s first Girls Varsity Soccer Team in 1984 and was named most spirited player in 1985.
Beth learned practical and profound lessons while a student at Chaminade – lessons that carried through to adulthood. She is grateful for all her teachers who imparted their wisdom – including Mr. Valentine, Mrs. McDonnell, and Brother Hanger, to name a few. She appreciates her classmates for making life brighter, especially her radiant friends – Paige Bierly, Christine Calandra, Kim Ryan and Janet Saldutti.
Beth was voted Most Humorous by her ’85 classmates; she brought her sense of humor along to the University of California Los Angeles where she earned both her undergraduate and law degrees.
Beth has practiced in various legal fields from immigration, and personal injury, to employment, estate planning and worker’s compensation. She tried ten jury trials to verdict as a Los Angeles County Deputy Public Defender. As a volunteer Mediator, she resolves small claims cases at Simi Valley Courthouse. She also volunteers as an Ombudsman, advocating for the dignified treatment of long term care residents in the valley.
Beth witnessed her parents’ stellar service to Chaminade and has carried on their legacy. Her father, Dr. Frank Macias, served as president of the Boosters Association, while her mother, Ann Macias, was president of the Parent’s Association. They are founding members of the Stadium Club.
Beth is a familiar presence on both campuses. You might spot her welcoming new families, working hospitality, or at alumni events. She is an active fundraiser, participating in phone-a-thon and supporting events like Gala and the Alumni Challenge. She was honored to serve on the Chaminade Board of Directors from 2000 to 2006. She is delighted that Saturday with Santa has become a Chaminade family tradition over the past 18 years. In addition to her parent volunteer activities, Beth also serves on the Alumni Council.
It is with heartfelt Eagle Pride that Beth and her husband, Manuel Diaz, send their three boys to Chaminade. Mark ’18, Ethan ’20 and Teddy ’24 have discovered their academic and theatric talent under the direction of their devoted teachers.
