Kate Beskid ’00 attended Chaminade College Preparatory from sophomore to senior year. She participated in many activities, including cheerleading, Student Council and LIFE Team. Kate also served as the Vice President of the Bible Club and received the Chaminade Spirit Award her senior year.
After graduating from the University of Arizona, Kate Beskid ’00 returned to her alma mater in 2004. She started her career as a 7th grade religion teacher and has served Chaminade in a variety of ways for the last 13 years. She has worked with Student Council, coaches the 6th and 8th grade cheer teams, and leads the innovative learning team. Kate has also been the chair of the Religion Department for the past 8 years and is in her second year as the Chatsworth Director of Campus Ministry.
In 2009, Kate, along with Annette (Dietel) Damien ’01, founded the middle school’s SHINE program (Students Help Inspire New Experiences). SHINE is comprised of 7th and 8th grade students interested in growing in their own faith experiences while pursuing service opportunities. Kate designed this leadership club to be a link to the high school’s LIFE Team.
Through Chaminade, Kate has become involved in the Marianist National Program. She served as regional coordinator for the Pacific for three years and works with the LIFE program on a national level. In 2016, Kate was commissioned a Marianist Lay Affiliate, a lifelong commitment to the Marianist Family and Church.
Kate recieved a Commendation for Service Work from the City of Los Angeles in 2006 for her work with Light the Night. She has also earned the Chaminade Humanitarian Award (2009) and the William Joseph Chaminade Award (2012).
