• Introduction to the Marianist Charism for New Marianist Educators

  This program is a new hire orientation program designed to introduce Marianist educators to the mission and charism of Chaminade College Preparatory as a Catholic school in the Marianist tradition. Marianist educators will explore the essence of a Catholic education; learn the rich history of the Marianists; become animated by an introductory understanding of the Marianist charism; and learn how to live out the Characteristics of Marianist Education.

• Continued Education & Formation

  The Continued Education and Formation (CEF) Program provides Marianist educators with opportunities to deepen their understanding of and their commitment to the traditions and beliefs that make Chaminade College Preparatory a Catholic, Marianist institution. There are four primary objectives of the CEF Program for Marianist educators:

  1. Animate the Characteristics of Marianist Education in the school community.
  2. Form a culture that animates and empowers our school community to live in family spirit while cultivating aptitude, faith and justice.
  3. Grow in relationship with God and model Mary’s qualities to be at the service of others.
  4. Develop a 21^st century learning environment that is innovative and inspires students to love, learn and lead.

• Sodality System

  In Fr. Chaminade’s understanding, the mission was not a solitary task.  It involved a “discipleship of equals” which is the phrase used to represent the collaborative nature of the Marianist charism. Fr. Chaminade believed that the most effective way to enact mission was to gather people together in relational groups called sodalities that are marked by openness, cooperation, mutuality, collegiality, and a sense of service. 

   

  The Sodality System at Chaminade College Preparatory engages our Marianist educators to pray, dialogue, discern and make decisions on initiatives that serve our mission.  All Marianist educators are placed in sodalities in order to:

   

  • Build community through active collaboration, dialogue, consultation, and discernment.
  • Contribute to decision-making processes that affect our mission.
  • Grow in faith and experience God’s love in each other.   

• Respect Life Month

  As a Catholic, Marianist school, we form our students in the gospel values of Jesus Christ (love, compassion, service, justice, dignity, courage, faith, empathy). With these values, we value the gift of human life and seek to understand our responsibility to protect the dignity of all people from conception to natural death by building a culture of life, justice and peace.

   

  During the month of October, we join our local Church in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to celebrate Respect Life. The entire school community focuses on the seven Catholic Social Teaching themes in various activities, prayers and celebration of Mass:

  • Life and Dignity of the Human Person
  • Call to Family, Community and Participation
  • Rights and Responsibilities
  • Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
  • Dignity of Work and Rights of Workers
  • Solidarity
  • Care for God’s Creation

   

  These seven themes are also incorporated into the academic curriculum because the Church’s social teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and promoting life and dignity amidst the challenges of modern society. This allows students to consider the various arenas that encompass life in society, including the political, economic, social and cultural. It names the challenges confronting persons and societies today while highlighting the benefits and dangers to those challenges that prevents human flourishing. Students critique the challenges from the point of view of the values and moral vision of the Roman Catholic faith.

• Catholic Schools / Marianist Heritage Week

  Chaminade College Preparatory celebrates its annual Catholic Schools/Marianist Heritage Week to promote the Marianist charism that was inspired by Blessed William Joseph Chaminde: To be formed by Mary for the mission of Christ. Both campuses join forces to celebrate liturgies, themed dress days, faith rallies, activities and special luncheons to build up our sense of family spirit.

• Founders Day

  Founders Day brings both campuses together to honor our Marianist Founders and individuals who have made significant contributions to Chaminade College Preparatory. Chaminade College Preparatory celebrates this annual event with a Mass to reflect on Fr. Chaminade’s inspirational passage from the Wedding of Cana: Do Whatever He Tells You. This passage resonated in Fr. Chaminade’s life which led him to making an alliance with the Blessed Virgin Mary to pray through the truths of faith and act on them. For this reason, we honor individuals who have engaged in their own service that works towards building up communities.

• Office of Sponsorship Marianist Visitation Program

  The Marianist Visitation Program is conducted by the Marianist Province of the United States and works collaboratively with the Office of Mission & Strategic Initiatives. The purpose of the program is to identify ways in which Chaminade College Preparatory exemplifies Marianist education, a condition of continued sponsorship by the Marianist Province. As such, team visits from the Province are conducted to gather evidence of how the Characteristics of Marianist Education are being animated in the school life community.
