2015 Inductees

Kelly Cochran '05
An outstanding basketball player, Kelly set Chaminade records which have not been surpassed to date: total points in a single season (568), points per game in a single season (20.3), as well as career records for rebounds (903) and blocks (269). She was a hard worker and improved her game every season.

Kelly received awards each year, including All-Mission League Second Team in her freshman year, and All-Mission League First Team, All-CIF First Team and Los Angeles Daily News All-Area Honorable Mention in her sophomore year. As a junior, she was was named Mission League Co-MVP, All-CIF First team, Los Angeles Daily News All-Area, Los Angeles Times All-Region, and Cal-Hi Sports All-State. In her senior year, Kelly was Mission League Co-MVP, All-CIF First-Team, Los Angeles Daily News All-Area, Los Angeles Times All-Region, Cal-Hi Sports All-State, and MVP “Battle of the Valley” All-Star game.

Recruited to play basketball at UC Irvine, Kelly made a big splash her freshman year; in Big West league play she was sixth in scoring (13.8), third in rebounds (8.1), second in field goal percentage (52.8%), third in blocks (1.4), and led all freshmen players in each of those categories. After that, injuries curtailed her career and playing time, but in the three full seasons played she made All-Big West three times, finishing her career with an average of 10 points and six rebounds per game. Other awards included being named Big West Best Sixth Woman, Player of the Week, Big West Honorable Mention team, Second-Team and All-Freshman Team.

Maria (Costa) Husband '92
Talented in many sports, Maria played on four Chaminade teams. As a softball player, Maria was named All-Mission League four times, All-CIF three times, All-Valley, and received four varsity letters.

She also played basketball for Chaminade, and was awarded All-Mission League three times, All-CIF two times and All-Valley two times. She also earned three varsity letters for baskeball, three for volleyball, and one for soccer, for a total of 11 high school varsity letters.

Maria received a scholarship to UC Santa Barbara for softball. She was a four-year starter at 3rd base and short stop and was named Big West Scholar Athlete 1995 and 1996, and Big West Player of the Week 1996.

Ryan Griffin '08
Ryam was an exceptional Chaminade athlete. Ryan lettered in football, basketball and volleyball. He was rated No. 21 Prep Quarterback by ESPN.com and No. 67 by Scout.com. Ryan was a member of Rivals.com’s California Top 100 Team, as the Golden State’s No. 97 prospect at any position. He was named All-Far West Area by Superprep Magazine and helped lead the squad to a combined 15-8 record, including a trip to the state semifinals as a junior. Ryan was both Mission League Offensive MVP and First-Team All-League Honors both years. When he was a junior, he was named All-Area and Second-Team All-CIF after completing 225-of-380 passes (.592) for 3,358 yards, 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions. As a senior, he threw for 2,137 yards, 21 touchdowns and five interceptions while adding four rushing scores. Off the field, he was a member of the National Honor Society.

The Tulane Green Wave recruited Ryan to play football. His freshman year, he made school history by setting records in passing yards (1,382), touchdowns (nine), completions (141) and attempts (222). He holds the Tulane career records in pass attempts, completions, and completion percentage. He is second in passing yards, passing yards per game, pass attempts per game, completions per game, and 300-yard passing games. Ryan finished his college career with 9,026 yards, 56 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions. He was Player of the Week and C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week and was given an honorable-mention spot on the All-Conference USA team. Ryan was named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and Tulane’s 3.0 Club.

Ryan was drafted by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent following the 2013 NFL Draft.

Bobby Paschal '02,
Bobby was a leader on the baseball field, playing on the varsity team all four years. He was a team captain in his junior and senior years, Pitcher of the Year 2000, Chaminade Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year in 2002, and Chaminade Varsity Baseball MVP in 2001-2002, ahd received scholar athlete awards all four years. He received All-Mission League Baseball First-Team three times and Mission League MVP two times. He was undefeatedin the Mission League and in his senior year, Bobby did not give up an earned run in Mission League. The team won Mission League in 2001 and 2002. He was All-CIF three times, All-State three times and was named Junior Cal High State Player of the Year.

Bobby also received awards from the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Daily News, including Most Valuable Pitcher Daily News Invitational in 2001, All-Area Baseball Team three times and Los Angeles Daily News Pitcher of the Year twice. He was invited to play in the Bernie Milligan Game in 2002. In 2002, he was Connie Mack National Champion, Connie Mack World Series All-Tournament Team, and National Classic All-Tournament Team.

Bobby received a scholarship to USC where he received All-Pac 10 honors his freshman year. He transferred to California State University, Northridge where as a senior, he totaled 57 strikeouts in 57 innings. He finished his college career at Cal State Northridge in2007 and earned a master’s degree from Arizona State University in 2014.

In 2007, Bobby signed professionally with the Colorado Rockies. After he finished playing with the Rockies,he entered the LAPD Police Academy. He graduated as class president, won the Academy Tactical Challenge, and won the award for being number one in Tactics for his class. He is currently assigned to patrol.

Logan Paulsen '05
Paulsen was on the football, soccer and track teams. He lettered three seasons in track (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 400m and relays) and was named to the CIF All-Academic team in track as a junior. In soccer, he played two seasons (2002-03) at the premier level of club soccer, and lettered four seasons as a sweeper, stopper, striker and goalie. He earned first-team All-CIF honors in his junior and senior seasons and was team captain and MVP as a senior.

In football, Logan was exceptional. He lettered three seasons as a tight end, defensive end and punter. As a junior, he made 26 receptions for 316 yards and two touchdowns; 52 tackles, including a school record 24 sacks, as a defensive end. As a senior, he made 36 receptions for 513 yards and two touchdowns on offense and 37 tackles, nine sacks and 15 tackles for losses on defense. He was pre-season no. 48 player in West by Scout.com and a four-star selection by Scout.com. Logan was rated no. 15 nationally by Scout.com, three-star selection by Rivals.com, All-CIF Southern Section Division III, Los Angeles Times All-San Fernando Valley and named First- Team All-Mission League as a junior and senior. He was named to the Mission League First Team in 2004 and was Male Athlete of the Year as senior, junior and sophomore.

Logan was recruited to play football at UCLA. He was a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, a semifinalist for a National Football Foundation Post-Graduate scholarship and earned second-team Pac-10 All- Academic honors. Logan was named offensive winner of UCLA’s N.N. Sugarman Award for Best Leadership and also earned the Jack R. Robinson Award for Highest Scholarship of a Senior Player. He was named a semifinalist for the Draddy Award, and earned honorable mention Pac-10 All- Academic team honors two times. Logan was co-winner of UCLA’s Captain Don Brown Memorial Award for Most Improved Player. In his junior year, Logan set a school record with 24 sacks.

Following the 2010 NFL Draft, Logan was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent. He was made the third-string tightend. He scored his first career touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 12, 2010. In 2013, Logan set career-highs in receptions (28) and touchdowns (3) while starting in 14 games. Logan is currently a team member of the Redskins.
