Student Morning Drop off/ Pick Up
If you are dropping off a student in the morning or picking up after school is out, you must enter through the Chaminade Avenue gate and exit through the Keswick gate. You will not be allowed to enter through the Cohasset or Saticoy gate for student drop off or pick up. We ask for your assistance in making sure the entire area encompassing our school is safe for students by driving slowly and safely on campus as well as on adjacent streets.
Uniform For Mass Days
On mass days, students will not be able to wear a t-shirt or sweats. Students must wear a POLO and uniform shorts or pants from Hilfiger Uniforms. Uniform items can still be purchased using the link on the Chaminade website, online through our Boosters site, or through Student Activities.
Lockers
Locker information has been posted in the Student Portal. Students will also receive an email Monday with instructions and a short video on how to use their locker. If a student has an issue with their locker, please see the deans for assistance.
Parking Passes
All students who park on campus must have a valid Chaminade parking pass adhered to their car windshield. To access the parking passes, log in to the Family Portal, click Resources, then High School Resources, then General Information.
Instructions for obtaining a parking pass
Complete the parking pass application online and make payment.
Bring a valid driver’s license and non-expired proof of insurance to the Main Office.
Stick the parking pass on the driver’s side windshield of your car.
Attendance:
Attendance is crucial for student success in the classroom. As such, absences are categorized into either School-related Absence or Non-School-related absence.
School-related absences
School-sponsored events(athletics, retreats, counseling appointments, school activities, etc.)
Non-school-related absences
Any other reason for absence (illness, doctor’s appointment with note, funeral service, travel, etc.)
Parents/guardians must call the Attendance Office at (818) 347-0391 on the day of their student’s absence from school to verify that absence by 3pm. You should leave a voice message with the student’s name, grade level, and the reason for absence.
Tardies
Any student arriving to school in the morning after the bell rings at 8:30am must report to the attendance office for a tardy slip. Students arriving between 8:30 and 8:50 are recorded as “tardy”. Any student arriving to second, third, and fourth periods during the school day after the second bell rings will also be issued a tardy. Consequences for tardiness are as follows:
5-6-7 tardies in one semester – 30-minute detention each
8-9-10 tardies in one semester – 1-hour detention each
11 or mor tardies in one semester- 2-hour Saturday detention each
Attendance Policy for School Mass/Prayer Services:
Masses and prayer services are an integral part of the Chaminade educational program and therefore considered mandatory. Students will not be called out early on Mass days unless the parent/guardian comes to the Main Office in person to sign out their student. This includes the parent/guardian of student drivers. The campus will also be closed to visitors beginning 30 minutes before the scheduled Mass/Prayer Service and remain closed until 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Mass/Prayer Service. There will be no exceptions.
Early Release
Parents and students should make every effort to schedule appointments outside of class time. To avoid classroom interruption, please schedule early dismissals in between blocks or at lunch.
When a student needs to leave school before the end of the school day, the parent must call and leave a message with the Attendance Office at (818) 347-0391 before 8:30 a.m. for the same day notification. Please provide the student's name, grade level, reason for dismissal, and time of dismissal needed. No student will be allowed to leave campus early without parent permission. Early release is not permitted the last half hour of the school day.
