Middle School Chapel
Our Chaminade Middle School Chapel was recently consecrated to Our Lady of the Pillar. Blessed Joseph Chaminade, while exiled in Saragosa, prayed to Our Lady of the Pillar, and recieved confirmation from the Lord that he was to begin the Marianist Order. Chaminade College Preparatory carries the Marinist tradition that Blessed Joseph Chaminade gave birth to on that day in Saragosa, while in front of the statue of Our Lady of the Pillar.
At the Middle School Campus, during the 2010-2011 school year, our Chaplains Father Ted Ley and Father Jim Mueller blessed the chapel and consecrated it to Our Lady of the Pillar inspired by Blessed Chaminade's revelation on that day when he began the Order of the Marianist. Our chapel is located in the Chaminade Hall Business office. It is a newly remodeled chapel following the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. The white marble floor, high rise ceilings, and stained glass windows create a quiet and meditative place for prayer. Our gold tabernacle came from Spain and is engraved with a wheat emblem symbolizing the “bread of life” that sustains our Catholic faith. The altar serves as the banquet table where the bread and the wine become the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ through the action of the Holy Spirit. And the ambo holds the Scripture readings that are proclaimed to listen to God’s word. The resurrected Christ behind the altar embraces the diversity of faiths that are represented on our campus. The statue of Our Lady of the Pillar rests near the front of the Chapel and reminds us of Blessed Joseph Chaminade's devotion to follow Jesus through Mary, our model of faith, who calls us to "Do whatever he tells you" (John 2:5). Finally, you will find a carved statue of Mary and the Infant Jesus which reveals the love between a mother and her son. This Marianist action is what helps us to celebrate Family Spirit as one holy nation!
Everybody is welcomed to pray in our chapel during school hours.
